In 1998, Bill Parcells, the head coach at the time, made the decision to create a
new uniform and logo. The previous logo simply read "JETS" with a green Jet wing
connected with the "J." Parcells, who sought to form an identity for the team,
changed the logo reverting to the 1967 logo, or rather, a modified version of the
logo, since the oval was now more rounded at the ends and no longer resembled a
football. For both the logo and uniforms, the kelly green of old had been
abandoned in favor of a darker shade, essentially forest green.
